The G5HHP was a high horsepower AC drive. The drive was of modular design with separate rectifier and inverter sections installed in a common enclosure. The sections can be paralleled to increase capacity. The drive was available in constant torque and variable torque ratings.

The G5HHP Drive is a Legacy product and is no longer promoted in the Americas. Please see our replacement product, the A1000 Drive.

When dealing with harmonic noise, which is better-- an AC or a DC reactor? What will happen if there is only .5'' clearance from either top or bottom of the drive to an enclosure? Otherwise, an OH alarm (cooling fin overheat) may occur. Also, a minimum 1.2'' clearance (varies by model) is required on each side of the drive. What is the current rating for the Run and Fault output contacts on a GPD 515/G5? Posted Date: 07/13/2004 Answer: It is a 1Amp at a maximum voltage of 250 VAC or 30VDC. The 30VDC rating applies to inductive loads such as relays and contactors. DC coils draw more of an arc when the contact opens than AC coils and arcing could eventually lead to premature failures of these contacts. Adding a reversed biased diode to suppress this arc across the DC coil is recommended in all cases. If these outputs are being used by the customer for Non-Inductive loads, then the 1Amp rating is still fine at 48VDC. When using lengthy wires with the inverter and the motor, use wires that are thick enough to assist in reducing cable loss. Is there a way to perform an initialization without losing the parameter settings? Posted Date: 11/28/2005 Answer: Yes. To do this, a "User Initialization" will have to be performed. When the Access Level ( A 1 - 0 1 ) is set to "Advanced", the "Function A2 User Constants" option will appear in the top level of the menu. The parameters desired for custom access are entered into A2-XX parameters. After any of the A2 parameters have been programmed, the "User Program" option appears in the choice of Access Levels. Choosing this option will allow only those parameters programmed in A2-XX to be accessed in "Programming". Up to 32 parameters may be programmed. To add parameters to or delete parameters from A2-XX list , change the Access Level back to Advanced. Then, the current programming must be set to default. This can be done by setting parameter o2-03 to '1: Set default'. Once this is done, there will be a new selection available in parameter A1-03. In this parameter, '1110: User initialize' will become available. Selecting '1110: User initialize' in parameter A1-03 will initialize the drive to user default settings. Is there a way to "lock out" unauthorized programming of the GPD515/G5? Posted Date: 11/28/2005 Answer: Yes. This can be accomplished one (or both) of two ways: 1. In the Initialize Group, set the desired access level in A1-01. Next, go to A1-04. From this location, press the "reset" key, and without releasing, press the menu key. This is parameter A1-05 and is a "hidden" parameter which it not even listed in the technical manual. The display should now read "Select Password". Enter the desired password. From this point forward, A1-01 cannot be changed unless A1-04 = A1-05. 2. Set one of the digital inputs (H1-01 through H1-06) to "Program lockout (1B)". A key-switch can then be added between that terminal and the common (term. 11), or, to make it less obvious, authorized personnel could simply use a jumper across those two terminals when a programming change needs to be made. A contact closure will allow programming of the inverter based on access determined in the "Initialize" group of parameters.
