The G5 GPD515 Drive produced an output of adjustable voltage and frequency to control the speed of a squirrel cage induction motor. This PWM design provided low motor noise and high starting torque. Current overload rating was 150% for 60 seconds. The drive provided 3 modes of control and speed accuracy to suit application requirements; V/Hz (2%), sensorless vector (0.1%), or flux vector control (0.01% with motor-mounted encoder and drive-mounted PG-X2 card required).

The G5 GPD515 Drive is a Legacy product and is no longer promoted in the Americas.

What will happen if there is only .5'' clearance from either top or bottom of the drive to an enclosure? Otherwise, an OH alarm (cooling fin overheat) may occur. Also, a minimum 1.2'' clearance (varies by model) is required on each side of the drive. What is the current rating for the Run and Fault output contacts on a GPD 515/G5? Posted Date: 07/13/2004 Answer: It is a 1Amp at a maximum voltage of 250 VAC or 30VDC. The 30VDC rating applies to inductive loads such as relays and contactors. DC coils draw more of an arc when the contact opens than AC coils and arcing could eventually lead to premature failures of these contacts. Adding a reversed biased diode to suppress this arc across the DC coil is recommended in all cases. If these outputs are being used by the customer for Non-Inductive loads, then the 1Amp rating is still fine at 48VDC. When using lengthy wires with the inverter and the motor, use wires that are thick enough to assist in reducing cable loss. Drive V/f characteristics may need adjusting to compensate for cable losses . The carrier frequency should typically be reduced as follows based on the cable length. up to 50 meters: under 10kHz.
