The F7 drive was the Industrial Workhorse of adjustable frequency drives. It was intended to handle every conventional drive application found in the typical industrial manufacturing plant from simple variable torque pumping to sophisticated networked material handling.

The F7 / Configured package provided an F7 drive in a NEMA Type 12 or NEMA 12 FVFF enclosure, with space for factory-mounted and wired options, such as reactors, filters, circuit breakers, fuses, network communications and I/O cards, etc.

When dealing with harmonic noise, which is better-- an AC or a DC reactor? They are both equally effective. They can also be used in combination. Otherwise, an OH alarm (cooling fin overheat) may occur. Also, a minimum 1.2'' clearance (varies by model) is required on each side of the drive. What software tools are available to save F7 drive parameter settings to a PC file? Posted Date: 09/13/2012 Answer: Yaskawa offers a DriveWizard PC tool. The software is free of charge from the Yaskawa website. A Communication cable to connect between the PC and the drive is required. The cable part number is UWR00468-2. There is also a kit available which includes the software on a CD-ROM and a cable. That kit part number is DWST616-C2. The link below contains the software download for Drivewizard. What is the ambient temperature derating (L8-12 setting)? Posted Date: 01/22/2007 Answer: The output current capacity and the overload capabilities of the inverter depend on the ambient temperature. The higher the ambient temperature the lower is the maximum output current because the heat dissipation becomes more difficult. The overload protection function is active only when the current is above the maximum continuous output current level (112% of inverter rated current). At ambient temperatures higher than 45°C (40°C for IP20) this level will be lowered. The ambient temperature can be set in parameter L8-12. The setting range is 45°C to 60°C. Because the inverter has no IP00/20 detection the set value for L8-12 must be 5° higher than the real ambient temperature at IP20 units. When using lengthy wires with the inverter and the motor, use wires that are thick enough to assist in reducing cable loss. Drive V/f characteristics may need adjusting to compensate for cable losses . The carrier frequency should typically be reduced as follows based on the cable length. up to 50 meters: under 10kHz.
