| Question: | Is there a detailed description of the behavior of the IEC functions when EN / ENO are used? |
| Answer: | Basic logic and math functions are supplied with the MotionWorks IEC programming editor. Logic comparisons include:
EQ - Equal To
NE - Not Equal To
LT - Less Than
LE - Less Than or Equal To
GT - Greater Than
GE - Greater Than or Equal To
and more.
When the EN / ENO feature is enabled, the function will only evaluate the inputs when EN is high. When EN is low, the output is frozen in the last state when the function last evaluated the input conditions. The purpose of the EN input and corresponding ENO output is to provide means for a validity check on the block output. If EN is OFF, then ENO will also be OFF, meaning the output result is not valid. If errors occur, such as divide by zero, then ENO will be OFF.
Connections to EN and ENO are not required for the functions to operate. When EN is not connected, the function always evaluates the input conditions.
Example 1 – With EN / ENO

Figure 1: Enable is FALSE, GE logic is TRUE, run coil is FALSE.

Figure 2: Enable is TRUE, GE logic is TRUE, run coil is TRUE.
Example 2. EN / ENO not used.
