| Question: | Is it possible to connect an EXOR HMI to Yaskawa SMC Products? |
| Answer: | Yes, Yaskawa has tested several Alpha Numeric and Graphical HMI products from EXOR with success. EXOR HMIs' communicate to Yaskawa SMC products (LEGEND-MC, SMC2000) via an ASCII RS232 serial driver.
The attached files show additional data:
uplc82.dll - Galil/Yaskawa driver (FW drv Ver. 3.07 - DLL ver 5.02), ASCII driver for SMC Products without handshaking
(Note: Click here for a link to the latest driver which includes Hardware Handshaking - this may be necessary for enhanced communication robustness).
SMCAN1.prj - a designer project file showing a simple example of an alpha numeric CP11G-04 communicating to an SMC
SMCTS1.prj - a designer project file showing a simple example of a touch panel eTOP11 communicating to an SMC
HMI_SMC_tn84-1.jpg - a tech note outlining some details on how to communicate to an SMC with an EXOR HMI
SMCTST2.zip - a designer project file for an eTOP11 showing an example communicating to an SMC (2 axis X and Y). It includes the use of a real time clock from the RDA, Y-axis Tuning gain setup, and Trending graphs (every time the ON/OFF switch is pressed it samples the Y-Axis following error). For trending (last page), data points can be displayed by toggling the Cursor button in and out of curser mode. This zip file also contains the SMC-2000 file required to setup and run the application example properly.
Note that it is important to first set echo on "EO1" to port 1 and define all variables used in the HMI before starting. |
